Job Description
Registered Nursing candidates with a passion for people and care are invited to apply for these positions. These positions will report to the Theatre Manager.
Our hospital specializes in the following disciplines, and therefore nursing candidates with competence in the following discipline may apply for positions:
- Ear, Nose and Throat
- Maxillofacial
- Head and Neck
- Neuro
- Vascular surgery
- Spinal
The responsibility of a registered nurse is to provide quality nursing care to patients. These tasks will include the preparation of theatres and equipment according to the theatre list and doctor’s protocol per procedure. The tasks will include performing patient and surgical site preparation and all other functions within the scope of practice.
As the senior in the theatre, the registered nurse will support the anaesthetic nurse with preparing and organizing general anaesthesia equipment and medication related to the procedure and guiding the circulating surgery nurse where necessary.
The registered nurse will also ensure a therapeutic and safe patient environment by maintaining health and safety standards and complying with infection prevention and control standards.
Qualification
The following requirements are a prerequisite to be considered for the position:
- Degree or diploma in general nursing science.
- Post-basic qualification in Theatre Nursing Science will be to your advantage.
- Current registration with SANC (South African Nursing Council).
Experience
Registered nurses with working experience of more than three years in a private healthcare facility may apply for these positions.
